Setup & support
Lookboards turns your images into shoppable galleries with product and link hotspots. It is free to install and use, with no external account or paid plan required.
Create your first gallery
- Open Lookboards from Apps in your Shopify admin.
- Open Image library, choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image, and select Upload image. Images must be under 10 MB and 25 megapixels. Wait for Shopify to finish processing.
- Add a title and useful alt text. Select Place hotspot and click the image to place a hotspot, then search your products or enter a link. Select Save image. Product labels and prices are saved snapshots; update them when your catalog changes.
- Open Boards, select Create board, and add images from your library. Arrange them and choose the layout, columns and spacing.
- Select Publish to storefront, then Save board. Your board will be available by name in the theme editor.
Add the gallery to your theme
- In your board, choose a Theme template and select Add to theme. This opens your current theme with a Lookboards gallery ready to preview.
- Select Board in the gallery block settings and choose your board by name. Save the theme when you are happy with its position.
- For a custom template or draft theme, open its editor from Online Store → Themes, choose your template, then Add section → Apps → Lookboards gallery. Choose the board by name and save.
- Preview that page and open a hotspot to check its link. A draft theme is visible only in its preview until you publish the theme.
An Online Store theme that supports app blocks is required. Lookboards does not create pages or change theme code automatically. A template can be shared by several pages; create a separate template if the gallery should appear on only one page.
Troubleshooting
If a gallery is empty, check that the board is saved and published, contains processed images, and that the correct board is selected. If a board is missing from the picker, save it again in Lookboards and reopen the theme editor. Existing blocks using Legacy board ID continue to work; new blocks do not need an ID. If your theme does not offer app blocks, use a compatible Online Store 2.0 theme. If an image fails processing, try a smaller JPEG or PNG and upload it again.
Images uploaded through Lookboards are public Shopify Files, including their source versions. Removing a look or uninstalling the app keeps those files in Shopify → Content → Files. Unpublishing a board hides its gallery but does not make image URLs private.
